Frequently Asked Questions about the Aquafins:

Q.  What is the force of the Aquafins?

A.  The force produced by the Aquafins is dependent on several variables.  The amount of drag determines the force.  The more surface area of the fins in contact with the water, the more resistance.  Therefore, changing the orientation of the fins will change the drag.  Faster motions underwater also produce more force.

Q.  How should the Aquafins be positioned on the ankle or wrist?

A.  Ideally, the narrow end of the Aquafins should be placed toward the hand or foot (away from the body) to avoid unnecessary joint loads. the fins can be attached to the limbs or be handheld.  It doesn't matter how the wings are positioned as far as the physiological workload is concerned.  However, if used on the ankle the structure of the foot of the participant and/or whether the participant wears aquatic shoes during activity could affect how the wings are positioned for the most comfortable fit. The resistance generated by the wing is slightly greater when the solid part of the wing is pointed up and the holes in the wing are pointed down.

Q.  Do Aquafins cuffs fit all sizes?

A.  No. 9 7/8" is the maximum circumference that will fit inside the cuffs, suitable for the majority of individual's ankles or wrists.

Q.  Where can Fins be used?

A.  Fins can be used either in shallow water (upper and lower body training) or in deep water (trunk stabilization).
